Regina Spektor – Dance Anthem of the 80s
This was probably my favorite song, and Brooklyn’s least favorite song, that she played live. It was just her on her casio, plinking and plonking notes while masterfully manipulating that megaphone she calls a voicebox. I was totally unprepared for her vocal prowess until I heard her operate live and in person.
Oh, her fans?
- will jizz their collective pants at her quirkiness (“omg she talks soooo cute!” -girl behind me)
- love them some vests, scarves, and neckware in general
- are gayer than expected (should’ve seen this coming)
- are younger than expected (average age: 18?)
- are mostly female, and blatant woo girls
- will cut you deep if you even hint at noticing her rack
- are really pretty nice and well behaved in general don’t hurt me please
In all seriousness, it was an amazing-sounding show that I sincerely doubt I would’ve had a chance to see if it weren’t for the free tickets. Thanks muchly Megen “Roll with Me Baby and You’ll Touch the Sky” Mundy and the prestigious Fort Worth Weekly for the great seats.
I couldn’t find much of any photos or videos of the show, and the one video I shot with my phone came out just slightly worse than terrible. Luckily, Rand the man has us taken of. Check out his site for a few photos and two videos that came out oh so much better than mine. Tell him I sent ya.
