Most of you who are interested have most likely already heard of the rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, so I thought I’d play you a really great lesser-known track off the eponymous new album.

“Reptiles” is a tune that I think captures each of the members’ styles most succinctly. There’s a dark, creepy overtone supplied by Homme’s vocals, and even a Led Zeppelin bounce courtesy of John Paul Jones’ “Misty Mountain Hop” era bassline. Them Crooked Vultures will be touring the west coast until they head to europe in december, followed by australia in the new year.

Morrissey Swords[wpaudio text="Morrissey - Ganglord" url="http://tony2nice.green.feralhosting.com/data/Morrissey%20-%20Swords%20%5bV0%5d/04%20-%20Ganglord.mp3"]

The best hair in rock is back with Swords, Morrissey’s newest b-sides collection. Tracks are leftovers from his last three album sessions: You Are the Quarry, Ringleader of the Tormentors, and Years of Refusal.

It’s no secret we’re huge fans of all things Smiths and Morrissey ’round these parts, and when I got ahold of this, it wasn’t a question of if to post a track, but which? Do I pick the one I like the most, or the one most representative of what you’ve come to expect in Morrissey?

How about a track that does both equally well? The one that caught my attention first and sustained it the longest: “Ganglord”.

As for the album, Morrissey’s b-sides are always a pretty safe bet on quality, and Swords is no exception. To be honest, I actually like this a bit more than his last album, Years of Refusal, and I think you might feel the same after a good listen.

Straight outta Philly, Amanda Blank’s one part Peaches, one part Spank Rock, microwaved on high for 3 minutes until fully crunk’d.

She’ll be back in the states starting in mid November for a whirlwind tour that takes her from Paris to Philadelphia to New York to Canada to Chicago and Milwaukee, then to the west coast. And hey Erin/Lush, she’ll by in Australia for the rest of the year. Grab a Foster’s and scream along.
